Monotone feat. L.A. Work presented their latest CD Single Take me higher at Club Dibango in Merchtem on January 19th 2002. A few days later I found the showtape cd and a cd with 6 remixes of Take me higher and an Accapella version in my letterbox. The showtape cd includes the new released single Take me higher and the singles Monotone, Monotone Episode II and Monotone Generation with which they had already a lot of success in the Belgian Ultra Top Dance Charts: 2 number ones and one number 10. Next to these hits, the showtape contains an Intro and Monotone Bass Brothers to make the show complete. Monotone Episode II is a nice trance tune supported by a warm bass and including some robot electronic sounds, which is maybe not so surprising when you know that ALC Productions also organizes robotshows. It became number one in the Ultra Top Dance Charts. Monotone Generation was the follow up for Monotone Episode II and the next release in 2000. Monotone Generation has a stronger beat and a happier sound which breaks totally the monotony. You can hear that they are still growing with their sound. Take Me Higher is their latest release and to my opinion this is their best work uptill now. I was very excited when I heard this number for the first time. It builds up very good, old mixing tricks are still doing great. The song has a more commercial sound, which -I hope- will lead to more airplay on the belgian radios. 6 Take Me higher remixes already exist: Single mix, High mix, Dub mix, Groovy mix, Club mix (light vocal), Club mix (full vocal) and an accapella version. All nicley build up and all with their own flavours (more/less clubby or commercial). I think everybody can find one according to his/her taste. Listen to all the songs here ! Thanks to Alexander Louvet (the composer and writer of the songs) from ALC Productions for sending me these cd's. Discuss this review on our forum !
