I noticed and deleted the post (and edited it) but not the topic (because i can only see the ip when posting something). I actually asked not to delete the topic (because there where serveral ip's used before)... i guess you did :? Just deleting them is a quick method but not the best way to deal with spam on a long term. Anyway ... i hope the admin can lookup/ban the user because i can't lookup the ip now.

Btw i send an email to the admin.

Not sure if this is any help but I've had this problem on some forums that I run. For some reason I can't get the captcha to work so there was a new bot every few days. I found a neat trick online and since implementing it some months ago I have not had a single bot sign-up. You basically edit the PHP code for the registration page so that if someone types in a website for the website field, you come back with an error saying something like "You cannot enter a website here but you can edit your profile later and add it". The bots can't read obviously so they just fail and move on since they all insist on putting an address in the website field.

i've banned the user and the ip's he used. let's see if this solves the spam. if not I'll have to check for more protection measures.

xprotocol, good suggestion. Some of the anti-spam plugins I'm running do something similar already though. I'll check to see if there are any updates.

The question is: was it an automated bot or a real human spamming the forum..?

I know and the posts are not really "child/guest-friendly" so i rather delete them then to keep this rubbish for their ip's. I emailed the admin so i hope he will take measures soon.
Maybe it's better to temporarely close the forum then to keep it running like this , it's bad for our reputation when guests look here at all these spam.
