Blunted Funk presents The Shift, a band that combines electronic and live instrumentation over driving house-inspired beats and funky downtempo rhythms. Starting out as an experimental live/dj act, the Brooklyn band has since evolved into a tight six-piece band. Their sound tip-toes from funky, soulful house to a feel that Urb Magazine wrote "fans of Eighteenth Street Lounge Music should dig."
"Swoscillator" is the first single from the forthcoming second album by The Shift. "Swoscillator" starts off with a funky breakbeat accompanied by live bass and piano, smoothly evolving to a driving 4-on-the-floor disco buildup featuring the saxophone of Brooklyn's own Mike DeVellis. A pair of solid re-rubs is led by wandering schizo-disco hero Nick Chacona who provides classic building action over soaring, hypnotic house rhythms. A second version appears via California house producer P-rez, who takes a late-night approach to the track. P-Rez's recent effort for Bounce House received many accolades and his chunky mix of "Swoscillator" adds another gem to his growing CV.
