Crossroads - Sylver does it again!

Postby Astral » Sun May 21, 2006 4:36 pm

In my opinion, the album was very different from the others but it was still Sylver and the little change didn't hurt one bit.
I find all songs to be very good although i would point out ''Dance With Loneliness'' where you could really hear Silvys great voice,''You and I'' and ''Seven Tears'' while ''Keep Your Hands'' really sound like Milk Inc. but that doesn't bother me.
And of course, there is ''Lay All Your Love On Me'' but there's really not much to say about that, all's already been said.

I'm really curious which song's gonna be the next single/video, i hope it's ''Dance With Loneliness''.

Way to go Sylver!

I listened to the new album... and in my opinion it's not so good as previous ones. But there are couple of really great songs on it. I like the best: Why, Lovesong, Seven Tears, On My Own, Half As Much, Except Me and The End. I don't like One Night Stand and Keep Your Hands.

the closest thread would be ''Sylver - Crossroads (New Album) - Tracklist'' but it's already way off topic
and why not?

@tmn1 - although i agree this isn't the best album it wasn't a dissapointment and there was alot of talk about Sylver's new sound and we all know how that turned out for Lasgo so i think it's a big thing that Sylver managed to get through the ''new sound'' faze with great music

Got to agree with you , it's definiatly different from the previous albums (those who disagree should let their ears checked :P).More "experimental" songs.Normally i like every single song (the one more then the other of course) on a album but this album didn't succeed in doing this.

My personal review :

01. Lay all your love on me
A typical sylversong. It's great , it stays great.

02. Why 2:51
Some harder stuff , nice but it reminds me too much of '2 unlimited - no limit'.
Little note :the beginning lyric 'left alone in space and time' is almost similar too 'left alone and lost time' from 'never ever' , sounded familiar :P.

03. One night stand 3:47
Oo , lovely ...i like these groovy sounds , turn it up !

04. Dance with loneliness 3:38
Like mentioned many times before , definiatly one of the best songs on the album.
Very catchy tune , sylver 100%.

05. You and I 3:34
This song reminds me somehow of 'Kim Wilde - Anyplace, Anywhere, Anytime'.Easylistening , silvy's voice definiatly voice makes this song. The electronic part kind of misses something.

06. Lovesong 3:50
As always a great ballad from sylver.

07. Half as much 3:16
After listening the album a few times i started singing (euh ... if you can call it singing :P) this song.Uplifting and very catchy , love it.

08. On my own 2:32
Mmm ... ok here we have it the first song of sylver i despise. The sound i boring and silvy sings irritating. What's is this song doing on this album anyway ?
I bet that's even silvy's idea.She like rnb , rap stuff ... yuck.

09. Seven tears 3:27
Benny benassi style , yeah!
Another groovy tune but lacks some more energy.

10. Keep your hands 3:58
Now it's sylver ft. linda , lol.Looks like Regi has had his hand in this one but i also like the milk inc.-style :D.
This song is actually kind of the opposite 'i don't care' , funny.

11. Except me 2:53
Nice song but get's boring after a while (this would be an experimental song in my eyes).

12. The end 4:00
Another ballad but not as good as 'lovesong' though.

Overal it's a good album but their previous albums are remarkably better (hopefully this trend won't continue this way).

How do you rate the new album?
This is my opinion:

01. Lay all your love on me 8/10
02. Why 10/10
03. One night stand 3/10
04. Dance with loneliness 6/10
05. You and I 7/10
06. Lovesong 10/10
07. Half as much 10/10
08. On my own 10/10
09. Seven tears 10/10
10. Keep your hands 3/10
11. Except me 10/10
12. The end 10/10

Half as much is a great song why so short? I could listen to it all the time, it should be longer.

well...it's hard to make an album on which everybody will like EVERY song, in my opinion, Sylver did experiment on this album and there were some bad choices but there were also some very good ones, take ''Seven Tears'' for example, Sylver always made great music and they didn't have the need to experiment but i remember Silvy saying that it's getting harder for them to find inspiration for new songs so i guess they had to experiment a bit and hopefully, they'll learn from their mistakes on this album and create a new, better one
anyways, my ratings:

01. Lay all your love on me 9/10
02. Why 9/10 (yeah, i noticed the ''Never Ever'' thingie but that's not a bad thing :) )
03. One night stand 5/10
04. Dance with loneliness 10/10
05. You and I 9/10
06. Lovesong 10/10
07. Half as much 10/10
08. On my own 4/10
09. Seven tears 10/10
10. Keep your hands 8/10
11. Except me 6/10
12. The end 9/10

You're right, it's hard to find album you can like every song on it. But on the previous ones, I liked really every songs. On this album I dont like too much One night stand and Keep your hands. But there are really great songs on this album, songs I like the best: Seven tears, Half as much, On my own and Lovesong. They are great, but too short for me :/

hey, just run it in a loop :)
i don't know, i was never bothered by their lenght but of course, if a song is good, i'd like it to be longer but than again, it could become borring faster
i like all the songs you like accept i'm not so keen on ''On My Own'', my favorite one is ''Dance With Loneliness'', in my opinion, it's the apsolute best and it's even long enough for me :)

2. Funny that it reminds you too much of "no limit", but if you use a sample of a song, it has to remind you of that song.
10. Regi has had his hands in every song on that album. He's teh producer..

1. Lay all your love on me 2/5
2. Why 4,75/5
3. One night stand 4,5/5
4. Dance with loneliness 4/5
5. You and I 4/5
6. Lovesong 1,5/5
7. Half as much 2,5/5
8. On my own 1/5
9. Seven Tears 4/5
10. Keep your hands 4,75/5
